This wine is made from 100% Mavrodaphne and comes to us from the certified Organic and Biodynamic producer Evriviadis Sclavos, who is the driving force behind the Sclavos winery and one of the pioneers of natural wine production in Greece.
The wine is characterised by an elegant dark red colour, and an aroma of complex dark fruit, blueberry, and plums, as well as spices, leather and floral overtones. There are elegant hints of spices and vanilla from the minimum 12 months of cask ageing on fresh oak, all well integrated into the wine. The palate reflects the nose: plenty of fruit and a perfect balance of acids and tannins. A complex wine with plenty of energy and elegance.
The 90-100-year-old vines grow at an altitude of 250 metres in the Mediterranean climate, in limestone and clay-rich soil close to the sea. The grapes are harvested in early September and are bottled with no further intervention after vinification.
Enjoy this wine, as you would a French Merlot, with protein-rich food to play against.
Out on the town, this wine is amongst others to be enjoyed at Geranium, Terroiristen Vinbar og -butik, Bar'Vin, Tyge Sessil og Orø Strandamping / Mathildas.
