Halkia Nemea is a modern expression of the classic Agiorgitiko red wine from the Nemea appellation in Nemea on the Peloponnese peninsula. The vines grow in the mild Mediterranean climate, with periods of extreme heat in the summer and extremely low temperatures in winter - unusual for southern Greece and the grapes are hand-harvested.
Following the requirements for a Nemea red wine, Halkia's Nemea red wine is made on 100% Agiorgitiko grapes. It has received 7 days of skin contact, before being matured on old barrels for at least 12 months.
The wine is only lightly filtered and is made with no additions, including no added sulphites.
A beautiful red with notes of red cherries, plums, nutmeg and spice.
It is characterized by elegant tannins and a long fruit-driven aftertaste. A good pairing for many dishes e.g. stews and roasted meat, including pork, lamb or poultry.
